Celebrating women today – and every day at Brown Bag Marketing

As International Women’s Day approaches, we’d like to take a minute to reflect on the progress we’ve made as a society – what empowerment looks like in our industry for women.

The very first National Women’s Day was celebrated in the US on February 28, 1909. On that day, writer and feminist Charlotte Perkins Gilman told a crowd in New York City, “It is true that a woman’s duty is centered in her home and motherhood – but home should mean the whole country and not be confined to three or four rooms of a city or a state.”

At Brown Bag Marketing, celebrating equality and women’s achievements is natural. As baggers, we are continually looking for new ways to inspire, empower and support one another to do our best work so that we can see our clients thrive.

Companies with women in leadership perform better as well, according to new research, especially in areas like productivity, innovation and decision making. In fact, a survey found that half of all American workers want to work for a female leader – and employees that do are more likely to be engaged, inspired and satisfied.

Today, the mission and sentiment behind IWD is as critical as ever, yet it’s evolved: “challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.” So, we hope you take a moment on March 8 to celebrate the incredible achievements of women. At BBM, we know when women succeed – we all succeed.
